Dr. Robert L. Siegrist (a.k.a. Dr. Bob) is Founding Director of the Small Flows Program and currently a University Professor Emeritus of Environmental Science and Engineering and a Research Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. Dr. Siegrist has enjoyed a prolific 40+ year career focused on education, research, and practice in areas of decentralized wastewater treatment, water reclamation and reuse, and groundwater and soils remediation. He has been an outspoken advocate pushing individuals and organizations to help advance the science and engineering of onsite and decentralized systems by publishing their research and experiences in peer-reviewed literature. During his career, Bob has published 300 technical papers, authored three textbooks, and is an internationally recognized expert in decentralized systems for wastewater treatment and water reclamation as well as in groundwater and soils remediation. Bob earned his BS and MS in Civil Engineering and his PhD in Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin working within the Small Scale Waste Management Project.

Kathryn Lowe is a Founding member of the Small Flows Program and Manager of the Mines Park Test Site. She has also been a Senior Research Associate in the Environmental Science and Engineering Division and Civil and Environmental Engineering Department.

For over 35 years, Kathryn enjoyed the challenges of applying laboratory scale research findings at the field scale and translating the results to regulators, practitioners and students.  She has lead numerous field investigations concerning onsite wastewater treatment and environmental restoration technologies. She began her career during the start of environmental investigations into hazardous chemical fate and transport in the environment and has contributed to over $13M of research grant funds.  She received her B.S. in Geology from Mesa State College and M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
